This explains what personal information Dickcasey Limited ("we", "us") collects through this website and when you work with us, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We keep it to what we need to do the job.
Who we are
Dickcasey Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14878020. We are the "controller" of your information. For anything about your data, use the or ring 01252 279775.
What we collect and why
| When | What | Why, and the legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| You book | Name, email, phone, business name, postcode, where the work is, notes you add, what you booked and when | To arrange and carry out the work, send confirmations and invoice you (contract). To keep our accounts (legal obligation) |
| You send a message | Name, email, phone, town and your message | To reply (legitimate interests: answering enquiries) |
| You apply to join | Your details, skills, experience and anything you choose to tell us | To assess your application and, if it goes ahead, check references and insurance (steps before a contract) |
| You use a referral or discount code | The code, and for referrals, the name of the person who referred you | To apply the discount and thank the person who referred you (contract and legitimate interests) |
| After you've booked | Your email address and when you last booked | Now and then to email past customers a thank-you offer for similar services. You can say no when you book and in every email, with one click (legitimate interests, and the "existing customer" rule for marketing emails) |
| On site or remote | Whatever is on the devices or systems we work on | Only looked at as far as the job needs, never copied or kept unless you ask us to (contract) |
| You use any form | Technical signals from your browser, checked by Cloudflare Turnstile | To stop spam and automated abuse (legitimate interests) |
We don't sell your information, don't use it for advertising, and don't make automated decisions about you.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of trusted services to run the business. They only process your information on our instructions:
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and its database, and checks forms for spam.
- Microsoft 365: our email and calendar, used to send confirmations and keep track of appointments.
- Voipfone: our phone line, if you call us.
- Our accountant: our invoices and records, for tax.
- Other consultants: if another vetted consultant does your job, they get the details they need to do it.
Some of these services may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK's approved data transfer agreements.
How long we keep it
- Bookings and invoices: 6 years after the work, because tax law requires it.
- Messages: 12 months after our last reply, unless they turn into a booking.
- Join applications: 12 months if we don't go ahead; as long as we work together if we do.
- "No offers, please": we keep a note of your email so we don't contact you again.
Cookies and your browser
This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies, and has no analytics that follow you around. It saves a few things in your own browser so the site works as you'd expect: what's in your booking, your display settings (text size and colours), and whether you've seen the welcome offer. You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. Cloudflare Turnstile checks forms for spam and may use a cookie that's strictly needed for that.
Your rights
You can ask us to: give you a copy of your information; correct it; delete it (unless we must keep it, for example invoices for tax); stop using it for a particular purpose, including offers; or pass it to you in a portable format. We'll reply within a month, and it's free.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
Booking terms
Last updated 14 October 2026
These are the terms for booking IT help from Dickcasey Limited, trading as Dick Casey. We've kept them short and in plain English. If anything is unclear, please ask before you book.
1. Who you're dealing with
Dickcasey Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 14878020. Phone 01252 279775, or use the . The work may be done by Dickie or by another consultant we have interviewed and referenced. Either way, your agreement is with Dickcasey Limited.
2. How booking works
Booking online is a request. We confirm each date by email within one working day, and our agreement starts when we confirm. If we can't do the date you picked, we'll offer another, and you don't have to accept it.
3. Prices and paying
- Prices are as shown on the website when you book, and include any VAT that applies.
- Hourly work: time over 8 hours in a day is charged at 1.5 times the hourly rate, up to 12 hours a day. Saturdays are charged at 1.5 times and Sundays at 2 times.
- Fixed-price work is for what the service description says. If we find more is needed, we'll tell you and agree it with you before doing it.
- Parts, licences or equipment you ask us to buy are extra, and we'll agree them with you first.
- You pay nothing up front. We invoice after the work, and invoices are payable within 14 days.
- Discount codes: one per booking, used as described where the code is shown. They can't be exchanged for cash. Codes marked for first bookings are for new customers only.
4. Moving or cancelling an appointment
You can move or cancel for free up to 24 hours before the appointment. If you cancel with less notice, or we arrive and can't get access, we may charge for one hour at the booked rate to cover the time set aside. If we need to move an appointment, we'll tell you as early as we can and you can cancel free of charge.
5. Your right to cancel (home customers)
If you're booking as a private individual rather than for a business, you have the legal right to cancel within 14 days of our confirmation, without giving a reason.
- To cancel, tell us clearly by phone, through the contact form or by email reply to your confirmation. You can use the wording below, but you don't have to.
- If your appointment falls within those 14 days, booking it means you're asking us to start within the cancellation period. If you then cancel after we've started, you pay only for the work done up to that point.
- Once the work is fully done, the right to cancel ends.
Model wording: "To Dickcasey Limited: I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service: [service], booked on [date], reference [DC-…]. Name, address, date."
6. What we ask of you
- Have a recent backup of anything important before we start. We'll check with you before any step that could affect your data, and help you make a backup if you don't have one.
- Make sure you own, or have permission to let us work on, the devices and accounts involved.
- Be available, or have someone available, to give us access and passwords when needed.
7. Remote help
We only connect to your device when you've agreed to it at the time, and you can end the session whenever you like. We never keep remote access afterwards unless you've asked us to as part of ongoing support.
8. Data wiping
Secure wiping can't be undone. Before we start, you confirm in writing which devices or drives to wipe. Once a drive has been wiped as agreed, nothing on it can be recovered, by us or anyone else. We don't physically destroy drives.
9. If something goes wrong
We do the work with reasonable care and skill. If it isn't right, tell us and we'll put it right free of charge, or refund the part that wasn't right. For business customers, our responsibility for any booking is limited to the price of that booking. None of this affects your legal rights as a consumer.
10. Complaints
Please tell us first by phone or the contact form. We'll reply within 5 working days and aim to sort it out quickly. Home customers can also get free advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service.
11. Your information
How we use your details is explained in our .
12. The legal bit
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
